Hi, we want to give our customers store credits that can be used as well as discounts and also include shipping but at the moment we only have one discount code field and that can take a value or a % but excludes the shipping costs.

But, if somebody returns an item for a store credit or if someone buys a gift certificate, we want them to be able to use the credit against the entire order and also allow them to receive any discounts that are available.

For example, if someone returns an item for £50.00 and they get a store credit (for whatever reason) and then we run a promotion for 10% off sale items, they should be able to purchase say, £30 of sale items using the 10% discount making it £27 then if they want to use next day delivery at £5.50, that makes £32.50 and cover the cost of the purchase with the store credit and leave a balance of £17.50 for future. Has anybody done this - can it be done? is there a gift cert/store credit module that would allow it?

My Advice - Dont do this.

We paid for Howard to do a similar thing for us and it was a disaster.

Firstly it didn't work and it took threats of legal action for him to "fix it."
Then it transpires that the fix didn't fix it - the system often doesnt deduct the reward points from the customer, so they can get discounts over and over again.
It also sometimes gives 10x, 100x the reward points it should.
There is no indication of when discounts are used , so your accounts will be left without any idea at all why some order are at a lower value than the actual price should be.
Finally - Howard has already done this code for us, he's just trying to bill you afresh for existing code.

Although, lets hope he does actually re-write you some code form scratch and not use the incompetantly put-together stuff he did for us which never workedproperly and still doesn't.
