Adding A secure server

It shouldn't be and things won't work correctly if it is. There may be only a single instance of CCP. Both the non-secure and secure URLs need to point to that single instance.

They need to alias whatever directory manze.ssl-01.com is now pointing to to whatever directory manze.co.uk is pointing to so that going to either URL results in the exact same thing being delivered.

Sorry, I reposted on the previous page...

Should the alias be between http://www.manze.co.uk/xcs and https://manze.ssl-01.com/xcs ?

That way the xcs folder is mirrored on the secure server?

Aliasing is done at the file system level not with URLs. What you describe is a redirect and that won't work correctly.

You need to be a bit more precise than this..... I'm only a piemaker trying to learn how to make his website more professional. Lol

Simply tell your provider that you need your secure directory aliased to your non-secure directory. That should understand that and be able to do it for you.

Hi Dave,
This the reply i got from the webserver's technical dept..
"You will need to create a 301 redirect to achieved that, you can create a 301 redirect through html code"

I sure this isn't what you mean though, is it?

A redirect isn't going to help. If you have an opportunity to obtain your own SSL certificate instead of a shared on that may be the better course of action. Unless your SSL URL resides on a physically different server, which is doubtful, they should be able to understand and do the alias for you.

Hi,
No, it would seem I can't obtain an SSL certificate.

"If you are using our shared hosting facilities the IP address of your website will also be shared with other websites on the server. As a result, it is not possible to add an SSL certificate on your hosting space"

I have just sent them this message...
"I need the non secure site and the secure site to be able to use the same directory"

I'll see if they understand what I need from that.

Regards,
Geoff

Hi,
This is the latest reply I have received....
"That feature is not available on our system the secure site and non secure site is on different web space."

Where does that leave me now?
